The world of football has been shocked after the message published by Lamisha Musonda on her social networks. The 33-year-old former Belgian player, who has retired from football since 2020, announced that he “has days to live” due to a serious illness. Although he did not give information about the illness he suffers from and which has no cure, he did want to share a heartbreaking testimony.
Musonda confirmed that these last two years of absences were due to this major health problem he is experiencing. “I must face reality: my health is critical and now I am fighting to survive,” said the Belgian, who also asked for “prayers and help” for both himself and his family. At the same time, he wanted to make it clear that he will do everything possible to reverse this situation: “We are fighting, and I will not give up until my last breath,” he assured.
He also took the opportunity to thank everyone who has been by his side in these difficult times since the disease was detected: “Realizing that I only have a few days left, I also realize that I had many people by my side and I will always treasure the memories,” he added. A feeling that he has despite the “sadness” caused by not being able to have the opportunity to say goodbye to many of them in person.
Musonda added that these last two years have been especially hard, both personally and emotionally: “Life is hard, but it is magnificent. “Life is full of ups and downs, and no one can really understand the pain you feel,” he said about a “difficult and challenging” time for the Belgian.
Promising career
Musonda signed for Chelsea in 2012, considered one of the greatest Belgian talents due to his enormous projection, after he had dazzled in the ranks of Anderlecht. He spent two years in the ‘Blue’ youth team, with which he had the opportunity to debut with the first team in the Premier League.
But, from then on, his career was marked by a lack of continuity due to numerous injuries. The Belgian went to clubs like Llagostera and Palamós, in Spain, before finally hanging up his boots in 2020. His little brother has had a longer and more media career playing for Betis or Celtic, before retiring at Levante.
