Morocco coach on scandalous match with Senegal: African football’s image was disgraceful
Head coach of the Moroccan national team Valid Regragi spoke about the scandal in the final of the African Cup with the Senegal national team (0:1).
“The image we created of African football was quite disgraceful. Having to stop the game for more than 10 minutes in front of the whole world is not very dignified. Football is sometimes cruel, and today we lost – we know that in the final you have few chances and you need to use them. This penalty in the last seconds could have brought us the title, but it was not destined to happen. We could talk about this for hours, but I hope that this team will come back even stronger,” France24 quotes Regragui as saying.

Later, Sadio Mane brought the players back, and Brahim Diaz fired a penalty kick into the hands of goalkeeper Edouard Mendy. In extra time, Papa Gueye’s goal brought the Senegal team victory in the match.
