Colombia.-The Morelos archer Maximo Mendez Ortiz was recognized at a continental level after receiving an award from World Archery Americas 2025which distinguished him as one of the greatest exponents of archery in the Under 21 category, compound bow modality.

The distinction was announced by the Institute of Sports and Physical Culture of the State of Morelos (Indem), highlighting the athlete’s performance in representing Mexico in a modality that is characterized by the use of a pulley system, which allows greater precision and speed in each shot.

World Archery Americas recognized the best archers on the continent in different categories and modalities, including recurve, barebow, W1 and youth archery, in addition to highlighting the work of coaches, judges and sports development in the region. Indem also highlighted the outstanding 2025 signed by Máximo Méndez, who had outstanding participation in national and international stages such as the Junior Pan American Games in Asunción, the World Youth Championship in Canada, the National Olympiad and various high-performance competitions. 2026 starts off in a great way for the goalkeeper from Morelos, who will face new challenges and sporting commitments throughout the year, with the motivation to continue growing in high performance and with the fundamental support of his family, a key piece in his personal and professional development.

Máximo Méndez expressed his excitement for the continental award and thanked those who have been part of his sporting journey.

“I am very happy to receive one of the most important recognitions of my discipline at a continental level by World Archery Americas, the highest authority of the sport in America. This achievement is the result of the medals obtained at the national and international level, as well as the technical training camps of the Mexican Archery Federation and World Archery Mexico,” he declared for Diario de Morelos.

Likewise, he highlighted the support they give him. “I thank my coaches, who are my parents, my entire work team and those who have supported me at every stage, from travel, arrows, food and preparation, to my sponsors. It has been a 2025 of dreams and goals achieved, and this is just beginning: let’s go for more“, expressed the Morelos archer, who faces 2026 as a new challenge in his sporting career, with his sights set on continuing to place Morelos and Mexico at the top of continental archery.
