During the opening days of the Winter Olympic Games, Milan will be affected by a widespread system of traffic restrictions, defined by the Prefecture of Milan and approved by the Provincial Committee for Public Order and Safety. The closures do not concern a single area, but extend selectively around the main institutional, sporting and representative places. The measures vary in duration and intensity, with temporary bans, complete bans and suspensions of surface public transport.

# The red zones concentrated in the historic center

The most extensive closures affect the historic center and are directly linked to the institutional events scheduled on the opening days of the Games. According to the plan approved by the Prefecture of Milan, on February 2 compressed air between Palazzo Marino and the Teatro alla Scala is affected by traffic restrictions on the occasion of the official presentation to the Head of State. From 2pm until midnight are prohibited piazza della Scala, via Manzoni, via Case Rotte, largo Mattioli and the adjacent streetswith extended parking bans and suspension of surface vehicles.

Il February 6on the occasion of the institutional cocktail at Palazzo Reale with the presence of the President of the Republic, the perimeter is further expanded to include Piazza Duomo, Piazza Missori, Via Mazzini and part of the Manzoni–Cordusio axis. The closures follow a strengthened security logic and provide progressive and modular checks throughout the day. The measures are active from 2.00 pm to midnight on February 6th.
# Monumental Area and Steam Factory

An additional security perimeter is activated February 5 in the Monumental-Fabbrica del Vapore area on the occasion of the welcome dinner of the President of the IOC, scheduled for ore 19.00. The limitations affect piazzale Baiamonti, via Ceresio, piazzale Cimitero Monumentale, via Bramante, via Niccolini, via Luigi Nono, via Messina, via Procaccini, piazza Coriolano, via Cenisio and via Galileo Ferraris. In all the streets involved they are planned complete vehicle bans, parking bans and removal of sharing services and taxi parking areas. The measures are active from 2.00 pm to midnight on February 5th.
# Protected routes between the center and the stadium
On the day of February 6 the plan includes a system of temporary closures lungo i routes reserved for official transfers between the city center and the San Siro stadium. The limitations follow the axis Palestro–corso Venezia–Porta Nuova–Moscova–Bastioniwith possible extensions to viale Certosa, sections of Corso Sempione used as a transfer corridorand at the Ghisallo overpass. The bans are active from 3.00 pm to 10.00 pmcon extension until midnight on the access roads to the stadium. In this time slot, vehicular traffic is suspended along the entire route, with the removal of parked vehicles and blocking of sharing services.
# San Siro and Sempione axis

The evening of 6 February the San Siro stadium becomes the main operational hub of the opening ceremony of the Games. From the hours 13.00 until late at night they result Piazzale dello Sport, via Achille, via Tesio and via Patroclo closed and the main access roads to the plant. The bans include parking bans, limitations on private traffic and the suspension of surface public transport in the immediately adjacent areas. Also on the same day the axis of Corso Sempione and Piazza Sempione is affected by closures for thelighting event of the Olympic brazier scheduled for 10.00 pm. Vehicle bans on the affected streets are active from 3.00 pm to midnight on February 6thWhile Parco Sempione closes from 1.00 pm. The security perimeter involves the entire monumental stretch and the side streets, significantly modifying the traffic of the north-western area of the city.
# The Olympic venues and operational hubs

# Olympic Village
In addition to the center and the symbolic places, the security plan affects the main Olympic venues in a structured way, with active limitations over extended and differentiated time periods. In the area of the Olympic Village, between via Lorenzini and the via Ripamonti, there are vehicular interdictions under evaluationparking bans, removal of sharing services and infrastructure controls, with active measures from 7.00 am on January 26th to midnight on February 23rd and, in a second phase, from 7.00 am on February 27th to midnight on March 20th.
# Ice arenas
At the Milan Ice Hockey Arena in Santa Giuliaas well as al Milan Ice Park in Rho and the Milan Ice Skating Arena in Assagothe limitations are activated on race dayswith vehicular bans and parking bans in the areas 7.00–24.00 limited to the time quadrants of the competitionshe understood between February 5th and 22ndwith further operational windows between the beginning and mid-March for the Santa Giulia headquarters. The measures can be remodulated for public order and traffic needs.
# MiCo–CityLife
Finally, in the MiCo–CityLife area, the closures concern Viale Scarampo and Viale Teodorico, with active bans and limitations on taxis from 7.00 am on January 25th to midnight on February 23rd and in a second window from 5 to 16 Marchin conjunction with events and organizational activities.
