Matchday Snacks & Team Progress

The Veolia Towers will be a guest at the SKYLINERS in Frankfurt on Saturday (January 24th, 8 p.m.). Before the first round final against the tenth-placed team, head coach Benka Barloschky, Zacharie Perrin and Kenneth Ogbe talk about energy, focus and self-confidence.

Benka Barloschka: “We need fresh energy. We were missing LJ in the game, Janne’s role is smaller in the games, but in training he makes the other players better. That’s why I’m glad that both of them are back. Frankfurt plays very clearly, the team knows its strengths and brings them onto the field. That’s what makes them successful. A huge focus in the game is on rebounding, because they have the best rebounder in the BBL in LeDee in their ranks. Plus, with Till Pape, they have a pivotal point in the post and Isaiah Swope, who creates his own throw most consistently, we have to get these three players under control defensively. In order for us to do that, we have to set the pace, play much faster and not let Frankfurt get into the half-court game.

Zacharie Perrin: “I think I’m getting better and better at adapting to the level here in Germany. When I arrived, I was very focused on the offense. But I’ve learned that I also have to be present on defense at all times. Because it’s a big part of the game. I try to help my team as best as I can. And I’ve found that the harder I defend, the better it works. I’m now focusing a lot on being productive on both sides of the field.”

Kenneth Community: “We had a difficult start, which stuck with us for much of the first half of the season. But I believe that we have made good steps forward in the last few weeks – which allowed us to get a few wins. We want to build on that, build up more and more self-confidence and take that into the coming games.”
