Marquez: MotoGP 2026 Title Fight Pressure

Jakarta, CNN Indonesia

Marc Marquez ready to face the pressure to defend the championship title MotoGP 2026 even though the challenges from rival racers are getting bigger.

The 32 year old Spanish racer does not deny that the high expectations placed on his shoulders will be a challenge in MotoGP 2026.

The 2025 season will be one of the most dramatic in the career of the Spaniard. After being sidelined for years due to serious injuries and undergoing various operations, Marquez returned to the top flight and managed to lock in the world title with extraordinary dominance.

Marquez managed to secure the world title with five series remaining amidst a 14-match winning streak in the middle of the season.

However, Marquez’s journey ended less than ideal after he missed the last four races due to a shoulder injury in the incident with Marco Bezzecchi at the Mandalika MotoGP.

Looking ahead to the 2026 season, Marquez acknowledged the burden of high targets he must bear while observing the performance of his rivals.

“The 2026 season will be an interesting season. Aprilia is developing rapidly, KTM is with Acosta, while from Alex Marquez you can expect everything. Finishing as runner up, he (Alex) could be one of the potential champions,” said Marquez, quoted by Crash.

“Pecco’s speed is there. Sometimes two months is enough to reset everything. The goal is to compete for the title. That has to be the target and that will be the pressure on my shoulders,” said Marquez.

This expression shows two things, namely ambition and the reality faced by the world champion. On the one hand, Marquez wants to maintain his best performance and return to winning ways.

On the other hand, he is aware that his rivals, such as Pedro Acosta, Marco Bezzecchi, and Alex Marquez have also shown significant improvements in performance.

Aprilia even openly stated that their target in 2026 is to compete and surpass Marquez, a big challenge considering the dominance of Ducati and Marquez in the previous season.

With pre-season testing scheduled to take place at the Sepang Circuit in early February, Marquez’s focus is now focused on full preparation for the 2026 MotoGP.
