Lens vs Marseille: Baidoo Injury Ends Winning Run

Without the ailing Samson Baidoo, RC Lens suffered a defeat in round 19 of Ligue 1 for the first time after ten wins in a row across all competitions.

“Les Sang et Or” lost 1:3 to Olympique Marseille away and had to hand over the French league lead to Paris Saint-Germain.

Baidoo cannot play at the Stade Velodrome because he is suffering from a thigh strain. But it was nothing serious, assured Lens coach Pierre Sage before the game.

In Marseille, Lens actually has no chance for over 90 minutes. A brace from Amine Gouiri (3rd, 75th) and a goal from Ethan Nwaneri (13th) ensure things are clear. Rayan Fofana was only able to shorten the score much too late (85th) after preparatory work from ex-Rapidler Mamadou Sangaré.

Marseille remains third in the table, but reduces the gap to Lens to five points.
