A header goal near the end by Ecuadorian Moisés Caicedo gave Chelsea a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Cypriot Pafos on Wednesday, which allows them to be one step away from the round of 16 of the European Champions League.
Despite the theoretical difference in budgets and quality of their squads, Chelsea had a hard time overcoming the defense survival exercise proposed by the Cyprus team at Stamford Bridge.
The tricolor’s level is highlighted by sports specialists, as well as receiving praise from people linked to Chelsea.
Such is the case of Joe Cole, one of the figures that the London team has had in its history, who has not failed to highlight the tricolor.
“Moisés Caicedo is quickly becoming Chelsea’s most important player. That 140 million seems like a bargain now,” Cole said in TNT Sports.
Also, in statements collected by Daily Mirror, Cole continued with a positive opinion about the Ecuadorian.
“He is always improving. People rejected the fact that they paid 140 million for his pass and it took him a while to adapt. About 18 months ago he was once again that destroyer in the midfield, breaking up the rival game, connecting passes and to that base he has now added important goals and leadership,” he said. (D)
