Lee Kang-in to PSG: Shock Madrid Transfer

Atlético de Madrid will be very active between now and the end of the winter transfer window in order to strengthen Diego Simeone’s squad.

The departures of Javi Galan, Conor Gallagher and Giacomo Raspadori mean the need for a new left winger, defensive midfielder and striker, and efforts are currently being made in each sector.

The midfield is the priority at the moment, but strengthening the defense and attack is equally important. Concerning the latter, targets have already been identified, and a favorite has been designated.

According to Diario AS, Atlético are very interested in signing Lee Kang-in, and discussions between the two clubs are already underway. Sporting director Mateu Alemany was in Paris in recent days and attended Paris Saint-Germain’s 3-0 win over Lille on Friday, a match in which the South Korea international did not participate.

Lee is currently unavailable due to a minor injury, but will be back on the field before the end of the month. Atlético does not consider Lee’s current absence as an obstacle, as they have made an offer. Thanks to the good relations maintained with PSG, an agreement should be reached in the coming days.

PSG are counting on Lee, and there is therefore no guarantee that a transfer will materialize. In this case, Atlético is ready to turn to another Ligue 1 striker: Matias Fernandez-Pardo. According to the daily AS, the Colchoneros have rekindled the interest they had shown this summer, and an agreement now seems much more possible.

It will be interesting to see who Atlético end up signing, but both players would be valuable reinforcements for Simeone’s side – certainly more so than Raspadori last summer.
