Austrian open hockey championship (“IceHL”) club “Villacher” has terminated cooperation with Latvian defenseman Artūrs Kuld after a mutual agreement.

37-year-old Kulda returned to “Villacher” in October, the club he already represented from 2022 to 2024. The experienced defender stood out in 22 games with seven (1+6) performance points, 14 penalty minutes and an efficiency ratio of +6.

“Arthur joined us at the end of October, when we were struggling with an injury crisis. He helped us a lot during that period. Fortunately, the situation in the team has improved,” explained the decision to end cooperation with Kuld, “Villacher” general manager Martins Wrinkler, who also indicated that the club’s plan is to play more young defenders in the rest of the season.

Kulda played in the Slovakian extra league last season. Earlier in his career, he represented various clubs in Germany, the KHL and North America, including playing 15 games in the National Hockey League (NHL) from 2009 to 2012.

In the ranks of the Latvian national team, Kulda participated in eight world championships and two tournaments of the Olympic Games. After the 2022 WC, he announced the end of his career in the national team.
