Latvian Basketball: Content Writer Role

In December, Alūksnes Sports School and association “SPORTA KLUBS” “MARIENBURGA BK”” concluded a cooperation agreement with association “Latvijas Basketbola Siąbie” for the allocation of EUR 20,000 in funding for the project “FIBA
EuroBasket2025 – for the future of Latvian basketball” implementation.

The goal of the project is to improve the material and technical base by expanding and improving the training and competition opportunities for basketball players, to ensure a unified visual identity, to promote students’ motivation and a sense of belonging to the Alūksne region. During that time, it is planned to buy team equipment – basketball uniforms
set, long tracksuits, basketball shoes, as well as ensuring participation in the AIZDEVUMS.LV/Regional basketball league. In addition, the purchase of a portable streetball basket is planned with the co-financing of the Alūksne Sports School. The project is planned to be implemented until August 31, 2026.
“Until now, it has not always been possible to provide all the basketball teams of the Sports School with uniform uniforms – the existing equipment is significantly worn out and does not promote the feeling of belonging to the young athletes. Also, in the summer season, we especially feel the lack of high-quality outdoor basketball hoops for organizing training camps and competitions at the district level, as well as for the successful conduct of the traditional “Atzeles sport” 3×3 basketball tournaments.
Therefore, the opportunity to purchase a high-quality portable 3×3 basketball hoop would be a reasonable, purposeful and sustainable investment,” emphasizes Līga Thomsone, director of the Alūksne Sports School.

Lāsma Ēvele, public relations specialist of the Central Administration of the Alūksne region municipality, informs.
