Lamine Yamal is back. The jewel of Barcelona is once again that unbalancing footballer, who decides games week after week and who marvels the planet … soccer. His scissor goal against Oviedo has gone around the world and is the definitive confirmation that the physical problems that hindered his start to the season are now, at least for the moment, history. Lamine is already flying, he is “from another galaxy”, as Guillermo Almada, Uruguayan coach of the Carbayón team, assured, and Barcelona is rubbing its hands with a second half of the season in which the ’10’ hopes to continue taking giant steps in his career.
And the last few weeks have helped Lamine pass the cotton test. He has played full games in the League and Copa del Rey, he has accumulated minutes without ceasing and he has seen how his body has responded wonderfully, however. So much so that Flick has not considered reducing that load of minutes and has only been left out in the Champions League match against Slavia Prague, a match in which he could not be present due to completing the warning cycle.
Beyond the event in Prague, Lamine has been at the forefront and has once again been one of the most assiduous solutions for a Barça that continues to have an important offensive wealth on its wing. It was like this once again against Oviedo. The culés could not find a way to get a hand on the Asturian team and Lamine was once again one of the players who acquired the most prominence when it was necessary to take a step forward. His pressure in the rival area caused Almada’s team to make an error and that was precisely one of the aspects that Flick wanted to highlight after the clash. “I’m happy for his goal, but what I liked most is the pressure, how he works without the ball,” said the German coach.
That pressure is another example of the good physical tone that Lamine Yamal has achieved in the last month, as is the spark he has in all his actions. He did not stop facing his opponent, just like in San Sebastián, and ended the match with a flag goal that can only be understood thanks to the confidence that Lamine has in his abilities. Dani Olmo put a ball in the area that caught the ’10’ on the wrong foot and which he resolved with an impossible scissors against which Aarón Escandell could do little. The goal turned the Camp Nou upside down and defeated Guillermo Almada who did not spare his praise for the Barça jewel. «He is a player from another galaxy because of the decisions he makes at key moments. “He is a determining figure in the definition despite his young age,” said the Uruguayan.
A controlled groin
Lamine Yamal’s good moment puts to rest the unrest that had settled in Barcelona fans. After the summer, the player began to notice discomfort that led him to miss several games so as not to force himself and to have to undergo conservative treatment with the culé club’s physiotherapists that included a radiofrequency session that coincided, yes, with a call-up from the Spanish team. From there, Lamine began to feel better little by little and recovered those sensations that he had not had for a long time due to those discomforts that prevented him from having that spark that his game so needs.
Lamine noticed the change after the radiofrequency session, but the improvement was gradual, since it is a technique that consists of the application of electromagnetic waves to the affected tissues with the aim of generating heat and facilitating regeneration. That therapy, carried out on November 10, was key for Lamine Yamal to leave the discomfort behind and since then he has not missed a single game due to physical problems and has only been off the field due to a technical decision for 138 minutes of the 1,890 that he could have played. Having achieved this stability, Lamine now has the difficult mission ahead of him of not overloading himself in the coming months of competition in the face of a final stretch of the season that he hopes to reach freshly and also in the face of a world championship in which he hopes to once again be decisive.
