Lamezia Terme – On Saturday 24th and Sunday 25th, organized by the AIDA company, the Italian Indoor Para-Archery Archery Championships will be held in Lamezia Terme at the new building. This one in Lamezia Terme which is the first federal event of 2026 and promises a spectacle with all the best Paralympic archers in Italy. Over 70 registered for the event with athletes arriving from all over the country in the first seasonal test in view of the international season which will experience its peak in the European Targa Championships in Rome. The Italian pararchery championship closes the Open Week – Sport without Barriers, events that began with the official opening of the new hall on 19 cm. and continued with various disciplines despite the meteorological difficulties experienced.
The Arcieri Lametini company contributed to the creation of the entire Open Week in the area, supporting the excellent work of Antonio Caroleo and Eugenio Mercuri who took care of the organisation.
The Categories in the Competition – The categories competing in Lamezia Terme are Recurve Open, Compound Open, W1, Visually Impaired 1 (blind) and Visually Impaired 2/3 (visually impaired) who will compete for the class titles at the end of the 60 qualifying arrows shot at 18 meters away and, subsequently, through the preliminaries with direct clashes, the overall Italian titles.
The Program – The first archers will reach Lamezia Terme today, Friday 23 January for accreditation, the competition will start on Saturday with the qualification arrows and the preliminaries of all the competing divisions and the first overall titles assigned already in the morning, those of the double compound, while in the afternoon the finals of the double recurve are scheduled. Sunday will be the most important day with all the individual finals.
The Defending Champions – The champions from last edition will also be at the start of the Lamezia Terme Championships. Stefanio Travisani, who took the momentum from Novara to win the world title, and Elisabetta Mijno who is aiming for the fourteenth overall gold of her career, will try to confirm themselves in the recurve. Giampaolo Cancelli and Giulia Pesci will try to make it three in the compound, both capable of taking first place in the double edition of Novara. In W1 the most anticipated are the reigning champions Paolo Tonon and Asia Pellizzari. Among the Visually Impaired last year the victory went to Loredana Ruisi among the VI 1 and to Michele Bisecchi among the VI 2/3.
