Be careful, myth in sight. This Saturday, the Alpine Ski World Cup circuit stops in Austria, in Kitzbühel, for the most prestigious descent of the season, on the legendary Streif slope. Enough to offer, for the winner, a shot of adrenaline for eternity and a boost of confidence in view of the Olympic deadline, Saturday February 7… Which will be the objective for Marco Odermatt, huge favorite of the event where Cyprien Sarrazin had shone in 2024 before his fall.
The Swiss, broad leader in the general classification of the World Cup, has been the undisputed master of the downhill since the start of the season: out of four contested, he won three, including last week in Wengen, and finished second in the one in Val Gardena. Difficult to see who could prevent him from succeeding the Canadian James Crawford, winner to everyone’s surprise in Kitzbühel last year.
The Kitzbühel men’s downhill is scheduled for 11:30 a.m. this Saturday, January 24. It will be followed live on Eurosport 2.
