Huge blow for Boubacar Kamara. Five months before the 2026 World Cup, the French midfielder seriously injured his knee. According to information from The Athletic that we can confirm, the Aston Villa player is out until the end of the season, which strongly compromises a possible selection for the World Cup.
His presence in Didier Deschamps’ group was, however, hypothetical, the former Marseillais not having been called up with the Blues since 2023. However, he remained an alternative of choice for the coach in the event of problems in midfield. An option that is now moving away.
Already had knee surgery
Boubacar Kamara was injured during an FA Cup match against Tottenham on Saturday January 10. “We will know more in a few days, but of course he will not be available (against Everton a few days later), and perhaps for some time,” Aston Villa coach Unai Emery said at the time. The diagnosis ultimately turned out to be more severe than expected.
This season, the midfielder has made 26 appearances for Aston Villa. He was part of the executives of the English team, alongside the Belgians Amadou Onana and Youri Tielemans, and even John McGinn.
In February 2024, Boubacar Kamara had already undergone knee surgery, which cost him his participation in the Euro with the France team. History therefore unfortunately risks repeating itself.
