Two chances to make it to the Winter Olympics remained. The Scandinavian Cup in Finland and then the national cup in Falun which takes place this weekend.
Then the worst imaginable happened. Jens Burman caught a cold and first missed the competitions in Finland and then also this weekend’s competitions in Falun.
The 31-year-old thus confirms that there will be no ticket to the Olympics in February.
– I dare say that. There are no other selection competitions for me in the near future. It’s clear that it’s boring, but it’s just to be accepted. What to do?, says Burman The Express.
Weak placements all season
Burman’s season started uphill with a 22nd and 29th place in the Swedish premiere in Gällivare.
After that he was kicked from the World Cup and responded by coming in 47th, 24th, 15th, 47th and 65th when he drove the cup competitions in Boden and Östersund.
– There have been exceptionally bad results considering how it felt during the autumn. It is puzzling, he tells the newspaper.
Four out of eight places filled
Sweden has a total of eight Olympic places in length on the men’s side. So far, Edvin Anger, William Poromaa, Anton Grahn and Alvar Myhlback have secured tickets.
But it is not entirely certain that Sweden uses all the places.
– No, it is not obvious that we can use them, because it is SOK (Swedish Olympic Committee) who also has a say in the team there. And if they don’t think the skiers measure up, then we won’t get eight places, says the Swedish Skiing Association’s national team manager Anders Byström to SVT Sport.
