This season, the results of team sports in Chauvigny are rather gloomy and the repeated victories of the footballers from the Chauvigny – Jardres association are synonymous with a ray of sunshine in the gloom.
In the championship, they have just achieved eight successes in a row, finishing the first phase at 2e place behind Vicq-sur-Gartempe. A dynamic which reinforces the project in favor of women’s football in Chauvinois territory. Meeting with Tarek Karmal (25 years old), head of the senior women’s division.
“It’s a very young group, which is growing”
You lost the first two championship matches on the green carpet. What happened?
Tarek Karmal : “It’s my fault. I was not aware that we had to redo the upgrade file for a player who had already been upgraded last season. While we had recorded a victory and a draw, we started with -2 points in the standings due to the penalty while the opposing teams recovered the three points from the victory. »
Didn’t that affect the atmosphere?
“Not at all, the girls never gave up. It was a big thing and the story is even more beautiful when we see that we have caught up. Everyone knew how to stay determined. »
What makes the team strong?
“I’m not talking about a team but a group, even if we have a hard core of nine or ten players. On the weekend, it’s not 14 girls who play, but in fact 19, 20, 21 players who take part in this beautiful journey, both on the field and at the extra-sporting level, meeting up after training and matches. It’s a very young group, which is building itself little by little and getting to know each other. It’s promising. »
What do you expect from the rest of the season?
“We hope to be able to compete in the upper group in the second phase, from January 18. The girls deserve it and it would allow us to face much better teams to progress. »
What is the long-term project?
“It’s about rebuilding a coherent women’s division, with concerned and involved players, driven by a spirit of competition as we currently want to achieve. »
The team plays its matches in Jardres…
“I thank FC Jardres and its president who welcome us for the three sessions of the week and the match on Sunday. We really have a great field for the level we play at. »
Does the public follow you?
” Yes. We have quite a few parents, close friends too. Everyone enjoys coming to watch the girls play this season. There are victories and great play.”
