Jaipur Badminton: Padmaja Singh’s 7 Titles & Championship Results

Jaipur: Upcoming city shuttler Padmaja Singh dominated the Shri O N Dixit Memorial Winter District Badminton tournament by bagging staggering seven titles here at the Sawai Mansingh Indoor Stadium.While Padmaja ruled the roost, Tejeshwar Poonia, Nikhil Nath Yogi and Advita Sharma claimed the triple crown each to stamp their authority in style.On the last day of the week-long competition, all the six finals and the veteran matches were played. Padmaja won both her finals with ease to sign off in a grand manner. She won the U-15 girls singles final by defeating Aaradhya Dhingra 21-9, 21-10. Padmaja reigned supreme in the women’s singles, ousting Ojaswita 21-12, 21-12.In the men’s singles final, Tejeshwar displayed his brilliant game and downed Ayush Yadav 21-7, 21-18 to emerge champion.In the U-17 boys doubles, the pair of Aryan Singh and Akshat Shekhawat rallied back superbly to beat the duo of Dinesh Choudhary and Vinay Pratap in a three-game tough match 18-21, 21-16, 21-12.In another final, the U-19 girls doubles combination of Advita and Garima Yadav triumphed with a win over Angel and Varsha Singh 21-9, 23-21.Ansh Katara and Himanshu Gupta trounced Aryan Singh and Akshat 21-16, 21-16 in the men’s doubles summit clash.Organising secretary Atul Gupta said that the Shanti Mehta Scholarship, started by the Jaipur District Badminton Association president Anil Mehta, was awarded to Padmaja Singh, Tejeshwar Poonia, Satyam Gurjar, Aradhya Dhingra, and Varsha Singh. In this, three players will be given an amount of Rs 21,000 and two players will be given an amount of Rs 11,000.Apart from this, 20 young players and 10 senior players were awarded for their excellent performance by Justice Narendra Kumar Jain Foundation Trust.Chief guests for the prize distribution function were Principal Director of Income Tax Investigation Awadhesh Kumar, retired chief justice NK Jain, General Manager of NABARD Nikhil Pandey, and former minister Mahesh Joshi and JDBA secretary Manoj Dasot.From the Dixit family, SN Dixit, PN Dixit, Rachna Dixit and Pakaj Dixit, son of ON Dixit, were also present.At the end of the programme, JDBA president Anil Mehta thanked all the players, their families, spectators and officials.Alka Batra Lohia, Sanjeev Tiwari, Anshul Jain, Yogendra Kaushik, Ramesh Arora, Suresh Kumar, Mudit Jain and Gaurav Jain were present on the occasion.During the prize distribution ceremony, referee KK Mathur, Jagdish Khatri, umpire Dharamraj and match controller Pankaj Saini were felicitated.
