The Isla Chica neighborhood in Huelva experienced a new edition of the traditional pre-grapes on Tuesday afternoon, a popular celebration that anticipates the farewell of the year and brings together numerous people in Plaza Houston to experience the early chimes. The event began with a festive atmosphere from the early hours of the afternoon, with music and activities that accompanied the attendees before the nine symbolic bells scheduled for 9:00 p.m.
This year, the celebration had a special role in paying tribute to the Badminton European Championships 2026which will be held in Huelva from April 6 to 12 at the ‘Carolina Marín’ Sports Palace, an event that places the city on the European calendar of major sports competitions. During the development of the pre-grapes, material related to this international event was projected, thus reinforcing the link between the popular festival and the promotion of sporting events in the capital of Huelva.
The organization of the pre-grapes was the responsibility of the Huelva City Council together with Huelva Comercio and the Association of Commercial Entrepreneurs of Isla Chica, with the aim of energizing the commercial and social life of the neighborhood. Well-known figures from the local community participated as ambassadors in the event, such as Juan ‘el de los Cuartelillos’, the cultural programmer Marcos Gualda and the actress Luichi Macías, who accompanied the presenter of the event and the mayor of Huelva during the development of this festive event that brings together tradition and leisure at the end of the year.
