How Gauchão 2026 works

The 12 Gauchão 2026 teams were divided into two groups, through a draw. Six teams from one group face those from the other, totaling six matches in the first phase. The top four in each group advance to the quarterfinals. The two teams that do not qualify come together to compete in the relegation quadrangle, in two rounds, all against all.

In the quarterfinals, within the same bracket, the leader faces the fourth, and the second duels with the third, in a single game, led by the team with the best campaign. The four teams eliminated at this stage will have another dispute, in the Farroupilha Cup, worth a place in the 2027 Copa do Brasil.

Finally, semi-finals and the final will be round-trip games – just like the matches in Farroupilha Cup. The team with the best campaign in the sum of the phases decides at home. The semi-final seeding will be defined by the overall classification of the teams, that is, considering the first phase and the quarter-finals.
