HIF Star to FC Rosengård Coach: Circle Complete – Sydsvenskan

On Wednesday, the Swedish Football Association approved that Danish champions FC Copenhagen may step into FC Rosengård and part-own the men’s team.

Together with the Malmö company Danir, Parken Sport & Entertainment will own shares in FC Rosengård 1917 Elitfotboll AB.

The new owners started right away by hiring a head coach from Brage and a sports director from Denmark. Now it is also clear that “The world’s fastest man”, as Alvaro Santos was called in FC Copenhagen, will be the team’s assistant coach.

“In many ways, the circle is closed for me now. That I can contribute in both Danish and Swedish in FC Rosengård is like a dream come true for me. Both Denmark and Sweden mean a lot to me, and here in FCR we will bring the best from both countries. I bring all my dedication, all my knowledge and experience into this important work,” says Alvaro Santos in a press release from FCR.

Alvaro Santos signed as head coach for Hittarp in Division 3 as recently as a month ago. He has also had coaching assignments in Helsingborgs IF, Eskilsminne and FC Helsingør.

Santos played in HIF for two stays, 2000–2003 and 2011–14. He had perhaps his best years as a player in FC Copenhagen 2003–2006 when he scored 50 goals in 120 games.

“We went through a large number of candidates and interviews, and in the end there was no doubt that Alvaro is the right person for FC Rosengård. He has a lot to contribute, both coaching-wise and as a person, and he has a deep understanding of the football cultures of both countries. This is a real top recruitment,” says FC Copenhagen’s development director Morten Grahn in the press release.
