Coach John Harbor, who left the NFL’s Baltimore Ravens, is expected to head to New York.
ESPN announced on the 15th that the Giants have entered the final stages of agreement to recruit Manager Harbor as the new head coach.
The Giants showed a strong will for this recruitment, with the team’s co-owner John Mara and his older brother Chris Mara personally moving in, and Harbor also reportedly evaluated the Giants as a ‘prestigious team with NFL tradition’ and showed great interest in rebuilding the team. The Giants reportedly offered Coach Harbor a five-year contract and an annual salary of about $20 million, the highest in the league.
As attention is focused on whether Harbor, who was the third coach in Ravens history, will be responsible for reviving the prestigious club as the 24th coach of the Giants, attention is also being paid to whether offensive coordinator Todd Monken, who was with the Ravens, will accompany him.
The Giants, who recorded only 4 wins and 13 losses this season, fired coach Brian Davel in November of last year and played the remaining schedule under an interim coach. The Giants continued to slump, leaving behind a shabby record of 20 wins, 40 losses, and 1 draw over three years, and advancing to the playoffs only twice in the past 14 years.
Since taking charge of the Ravens in 2008, Coach Harbor has recorded a total of 180 wins and 113 losses in 18 regular seasons, won one Super Bowl, and advanced to the playoffs 12 times with a record of 13 wins and 11 losses in the postseason.
