Green Day Super Bowl 60: Anniversary Show & Performance

Los Angeles. The NFL will commemorate the 60th anniversary of the Super Bowl with a local opening ceremony.

Green Day will kick off the big game with a kickoff ceremony on Feb. 8 at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California, the league announced Sunday. The performance will celebrate six decades of championship history, and the band will accompany generations of Super Bowl MVPs on the field.

The trio, which formed in the East Bay subregion of the San Francisco Bay area and consists of Billie Joe Armstrong, Mike Dirnt and Tré Cool, is expected to perform a selection of their best-known anthems as part of the tribute.

“We are super excited to kick off Super Bowl 60 right here!” said singer Armstrong. “We are honored to welcome the MVPs who have shaped the sport and open the night for fans around the world. Let’s have fun! Let’s sing!”
