French Football Legend Dies: Real Madrid & Barça Star

Former French international midfielder, Lucien Muller has died at the age of 91. Passed through Strasbourg, Toulouse and especially Reims, where he won two French championship titles, he also wore the colors of Real Madrid (three Leagues, finalist of the European Cup of Champion Clubs in 1964) and FC Barcelona. An international 16 times, he was a semi-finalist at Euro 1960 with the Blues.

Becoming a coach after his playing career, Lucien Muller notably managed FC Barcelona during the 1978-1979 season and won the 1985 Coupe de France with Monaco. The president of Stade de Reims, Jean-Pierre Caillot, paid tribute to the memory of “a legend of the club”, recalling both the immense figure of football and the kind and respected man that he was.
