There is a time that does not allow extra time and injury time. It’s time for important people, for family, that doesn’t add up. And that is worth more than any contract. So he decided Kevin Kampl who, after almost a decade with the Leipzig shirt, has decided to leave football.
The time has come to take his time: his brother died suddenly at 51 in October, his father is ill and alone. Too much pain, too much need to be somewhere else. And football is no longer a priority.
Termination of the contract
He terminated his contract with the team for which he was a point of reference on the pitch and in the locker rooms, takes his wife and children, returns to Slovenia and goes to be next to his father.
The club accepted the request, it cannot say no to those who have given so much and only asks them to say enough. “After many years – explains the now former player – I realized that it’s time to go home because my dad isn’t well and I want to spend more time with him. After Seki’s death I understood that we shouldn’t waste time”. And so he says goodbye to football and a millionaire contract for two things that are more valuable than money: love and time.
