Fluminense opened the season with a 2-1 victory over Madureira, this Wednesday (14/01), in the first round of the Campeonato Carioca, at the Estádio Luso Brasileiro. Lezcano and John Kennedy scored the goals of Tricolor’s triumph, which added its first three points and took the lead in Group A of the competition.

The team’s next match will be next Saturday (17/01) against Boavista, in the second round of Carioca. The match will be at 6:30 pm, at the Elcyr Resende Stadium, in Bacaxá.

FIRST HALF

Fluminense commanded the actions of the initial stage, with control of ball possession and a greater number of chances created. The first was in the eighth minute, when Julio Fidelis crossed, Lezcano slipped and the ball fell to Santi Moreno, who shot first time to save the goalkeeper. At 19, Lezcano received it from Guilherme Arana inside the area, finished low, but the defender almost cleared the line.

After a while without posing any danger to the opponent, Tricolor opened the scoring. In the 39th minute, after a good move by Santi Moreno on the left, John Kennedy passed it to Lezcano, who shot into the goalkeeper’s corner to score Fluminense’s first goal of the season. At 41, Madureira tied with a set piece.

SECOND HALF

Superior in the match, Tricolor returned from the break trying to find spaces to find the net in a more truncated second half. The first chance came in the eighth minute, when Riquelme crossed and Lezcano headed the ball past the goalkeeper. Fluminense scored the winning goal in the 28th minute. John Kennedy received it from Agner, took out the defender and finished to score Fluminense’s second.
