Arsenal seemed to smell the final of the League Cup, but Alejandro Garnacho decided differently. The Chelsea striker single-handedly kept the Blues in the race with two goals. Not a knockout, but a first blow for the team of new coach Rosenior.
After 50 minutes of football in Stamford Bridge, the optimistic Arsenal fans already looked at their diary.
Because at that moment the Gunners were 0-2 ahead and Trossard and co. already smell the final of the League Cup.
White opened the score on a visit to Chelsea, of course via the house specialty: the corner kick. Shortly after halftime, Gyökeres took advantage of goalkeeper Sanchez’s miss.
New selector Rosenior already felt the mood, but saw one of his choices turn out well.
Substitute Garnacho provided momentum for the Blues again with his grinta. More importantly, he brought the home team back into the match not much later.
Yet an evening walk by Zubimendi seemed to settle the matter against Chelsea… Until that wicked Garnacho showed up again.
No tickets to the final have been booked at Arsenal yet, but a favorable starting position for the second leg further away in London.
