Flamengo U20 Lose to Volta Redonda | Carioca Result

Volta Redonda beat Flamengo 3-0 this Saturday (17), at the Raulino de Oliveira Stadium, in a match valid for the second round of the 2026 Carioca Championship.

After a late end to the season in 2025, with participation in the Intercontinental Cup, the red and black continued sparing the starters and went to the match with the under-20 players.

The game was marked by the early expulsion of Flamengo full-back Carbone, 11 minutes into the first half, after receiving two yellow cards for fouls on Ygor Catatau.

Volta Redonda opened the scoring in the 16th minute with Marcos Vinícius, after Ygor Catatau’s play on the right.

In the second half, Rafael Castro expanded in the 6th minute after an assist from Marcos Vinícius with a beautiful dig in the area.

Dener closed the scoring in the 36th minute of the second half with a precise header after a cross from Wagninho.

Volta Redonda dominated the statistics with 6 shots on target against just 1 from Flamengo, in addition to having more ball possession with 54%.

This was Volta Redonda’s biggest victory over Flamengo in the history of clashes between the teams.

With the result, Volta Redonda reached 6 points and took the lead in Group A of the Carioca Championship, while Flamengo, in Group B, remains with just 1 point after three games, in 5th and penultimate position.
