Buchmann makes his professional debut for FCN
Last weekend the time had come: Tarek Buchmann finally celebrated his debut for the professionals at 1. FC Nürnberg – around five months after the loan from FC Bayern to the club was finalized. Previously, the 20-year-old had only played three times for the U23s in the Bavarian Regional League. Also because injuries and illnesses repeatedly slowed him down during the first half of the season.
In the 7-1 friendly win over Grasshoppers Zurich, Buchmann played for the Klose team for the first time and played the final third of the game, which was scheduled to last three 45 minutes – even if it was not yet a competitive game.
Words of praise from Klose for Buchmann
Afterwards, Miroslav Klose had words of praise for his youngsters: “I’m especially happy for the young players,” said the 47-year-old, looking back on a positive week including a training camp in Herzogenaurach. The coach also explicitly emphasized Buchmann: “Tarek is doing more and more now. He is becoming more attentive, seems much more alert, much clearer,” said Klose, recognizing a development in the central defender after he had overcome his problems.
A very important factor is the former youth national player’s physique, which has repeatedly thwarted his plans over the past two and a half years. Now Buchmann seems to be on the right track: “It took him a while to gain confidence in his body,” explained Klose, who has now enabled him to play with the professionals for the first time.
Return to the professional squad?
It remains to be seen to what extent Buchmann could soon be used in a competitive game for the Franconians for the first time. His last of three squad nominations dates back to August. However, the fact that the loan player was used as the fourth central defender behind Luka Lochoshvili, Fabio Gruber and Robin Knoche during the 135 minutes of the friendly match against Zurich could be an indication that if he continues to be fit, he will soon be considered for the matchday squad again.
