The Federation of Jewish Communities of Spain (FCJE) demands that the Euroleague basketball match between Maccabi Rapyd Tel Aviv and Real Madrid, scheduled for tomorrow, Thursday at the Movistar Arena, be played behind open doors, guaranteeing the safety of the event and the right of fans to enjoy the sport.
The FCJE considers it unacceptable that the normal development of sports competitions is conditioned by pressures of an ideological nature or by statements that promote hatred against Israeli teams, such as those made by Podemos leaders Ione Belarra and Pablo Fernández.
Israeli teams deserve the same treatment and consideration as any other international team that visits our country. The FCJE reiterates its commitment to sport as a space for meeting and coexistence, and demands that the authorities act to guarantee the normal development of the event.
