FC St. Pauli has reacted to the injury of third goalkeeper Simon Spari by loaning a talent from Canada, Emil Gazdov. The 22-year-old goalkeeper comes on loan from CF Montréal for six months and completes the goalkeeper team of Nikola Vasilj and Ben Voll. According to the club, there is a purchase option in the summer.

“Emil has good physical conditions combined with exciting football skills. The fact that he has already played in Germany will certainly make it easier for him to get used to us,” said sports director Andreas Bornemann. Head coach Alexander Blessin added: “Emil is very dynamic and explosive in his movements, and he also exudes calm and confidence. He anticipates long balls well and also dares to leave the goal for defensive actions. He also acts calmly and calmly in the build-up game.”

Gazdov was most recently loaned out to Valor FC in the Canadian Premier League and made seven appearances there. “I’m very excited and looking forward to the new challenge at FC St. Pauli. I want to make the best possible use of my time in Hamburg for my further football development and gain as much experience as possible with a Bundesliga team,” he said.
