Kennet Eichhorn became a regular at Hertha BSC at the age of 16 and is considered one of the greatest German talents. According to a “Sky” report, FC Bayern wants to sign the defensive midfielder in the summer. Due to an exit clause, Eichhorn could leave the capital city significantly below market value.
Since the market value update in December, Eichhorn has been valued at 20 million euros. This makes him not only the most valuable professional in the 2nd Bundesliga, but also the most highly valued player to have ever played a game in the lower house. In July, Eichhorn signed a professional contract with Hertha, which, according to the pay-TV broadcaster, included an exit clause of between 10 million and 12 million euros. This would make him one of the top 10 most expensive departures from the Old Lady.
Eichhorn made his debut with the Hertha professionals in the summer and quickly developed into a regular player in midfield. The teenager scored his first goal in the Berlin jersey in the 6-1 win in the cup round of 16 against Kaiserslautern. This made him the youngest goalscorer in the DFB Cup after the Second World War; previously he was the youngest professional in the second division’s history and the youngest starting eleven debutant. With a market value of 20 million euros, he will also be the most valuable player to ever play in the second division.
When it comes to recruiting Eichhorn, who along with Arsenal’s Max Dowman is the world’s most valuable player born in 2009, FC Bayern has to prevail against great competition. In the TM rumor mill, the Hertha talent is linked to Bundesliga clubs such as Borussia Dortmund Eintracht Frankfurt as well as European heavyweights such as Paris Saint-Germain, FC Barcelona and Real Madrid. In history, a double-digit million fee has only been paid six times for a 16-year-old.
In the FC Bayern squad, Eichhorn would compete for playing time with national players Joshua Kimmich, Aleksandar Pavlovic, Tom Bischof and Leon Goretzka, with Goretzka’s contract expiring in the summer and Bischof most recently playing as a left-back. Playing time would be of great importance for the junior international, so he could possibly be loaned out.
