Fabio Quartararo: Yamaha Exit & New Team Confirmed | MotoGP News

French MotoGP rider Fabio Quartararo, who has been with Yamaha since his arrival in the premier motorcycling category in 2019, is expected to sign up with Honda for the 2027 and 2028 seasons, according to the motorsport.com website. When contacted, the Nice resident did not respond to requests from AFP while Honda indicated that it had “nothing to say” on this subject.

Quartararo, 26, has continued to fall in the hierarchy since his world champion title obtained in 2021 aboard his Yamaha. Second in 2022, he fell to 10th in 2023 then to 13th in 2024. The year 2025 was marked by a slight revival for the Frenchman with five pole positions and a second place at the Spanish GP which allowed him to finish 9th in the championship.

The Niçois, who is currently in Malaysia for the first pre-season tests on the Sepang circuit, had often deplored to the press the lack of progress of his bike and the promises not kept by Yamaha. The official Honda team, in distress in 2024 with last place in the team standings and only 35 points on the clock, raised the bar in 2025 with an eighth place out of 11 and 235 points scored, including two podiums at the end of the season for the Spaniard Joan Mir, in Japan and Malaysia.
