Times don’t matter, and they won’t matter for a few more weeks. However, the effect of seeing a time list with a Ferrari the fans always feel it in front: and so, on the fifth and final day of winter testing in Barcelona, it is Lewis Hamilton which climbs to the top of the rankings, both for the day and for the entire Catalan session.
Morning: Leclerc ahead
In the morning it was Leclerc who finished ahead of everyone 1’16″653with a total of 79 laps completed. Not a bad mileage, which allowed the Monegasque from Ferrari to at least end his tests in Barcelona calmly, given that in the afternoon, as expected, he would leave the wheel to Hamilton. In addition to Leclerc with Ferrari, they took to the track in the morning Plates (McLaren), Verstappen (Red Bull), Bearman (Haas), Gasly (Alpine), Bortoleto (Audi), Alonso (Aston Martin) e Bottas (Cadillac).
Afternoon: Hamilton raises the bar
However, in the last four hours of testing in Barcelona it was Hamilton to put himself in front of everyone with his 1’16″348: time that put him ahead not only in the daily ranking but also in the general one, given that his time was also faster than1’16″445 with whom Russell he ended the fourth day in command. It is impossible today to have a comparison with the Mercedesgiven that the Stella manufacturer concluded its tests yesterday: it took to the track on Monday, Wednesday and Thursday, thus exhausting its three days available early. The same was true for the Racing Bullswhich ran on the same days as Mercedes: this meant that today there were still eight teams on track, making the fifth Catalan day the most “crowded” of the week.
Compared to the morning, four teams took turns driving: this is how we saw it Norris you have a McLaren, Ocon on Haas ed Hulkenberg on the Audi in addition to the already mentioned Hamilton on Ferrari. A full day instead for Verstappen, Gasly, Alonso and Bottas.
Overall it was the Haas to travel more than anyone else with his team 195 giri106 with Bearman and 89 with Ocon.
Aston Martin and Cadillac the least active
The effect of a general classification that also sees Norris not too far from Lewis’s time is suggestive, but certainly not indicative: in this phase it is more important the mileage and from this point of view it can be said that it was a productive day for almost everyone, given that no problems appear to have occurred, with many teams able to run regularly. Good news too Verstappen (118 giri)who remained until the morning with the doubt of whether or not he could shoot after the accident that occurred in Hadjar on Tuesday.
Ferrari and McLaren also managed to complete a good number of laps, as did theAudi; not too much positive news though Aston Martin e Cadillacwhich have closed respectively (again according to information gathered by SoyMotor) with 61 and 54 laps completed. In the case of the AMR26, the Silverstone car appears to have only completed 12 laps in the afternoon, indicating some problems.
