According to English media, Roggerio Nyakossi is in the sights of several Premier League clubs. The OH Leuven defender is arousing interest after his performances in the Jupiler Pro League.
Increasing interest from England
English reports report that Southampton wants to sign Nyakossi this winter. West Ham is also closely following the Swiss U21 international and has already contacted OH Leuven, according to the same sources. Portsmouth previously showed interest and reportedly made a £1.5 million bid last summer, but it was rejected by OHL.
In addition, clubs from both Serie A and the Bundesliga are said to be monitoring the player, which further underlines the international attention for the 21-year-old defender. Nyakossi has Swiss and Togolese nationality and collected eight caps with the Swiss U21 team.
According to English media, scouts were impressed by his performance against France in November. His physical profile – 1.94 meters – and his role as a centre-back make him an interesting option for clubs looking for defensive reinforcement.
In the Jupiler Pro League he made eleven appearances and scored two goals this season. His contract with OH Leuven runs until June 2027, while his market value is around 800,000 euros according to Transfermarkt.
Transfer history and contractual situation
Nyakossi came to OH Leuven in January 2025 for a transfer fee of approximately one million euros. Before that, he played at Olympique Marseille II, which acquired him from Servette in 2022 for approximately two million euros.
Due to its contract duration and recent performance, OH Leuven has a strong negotiating position. The rejection of Portsmouth’s previous offer shows that the club has no intention of letting the player leave below market value.
