LONDON – Kevin Keegan, the former coach of the English national football team and Newcastle United, was diagnosed with cancer. According to the opinion of his family, the 74-year-old coach will undergo the necessary treatment.

“Kevin Keegan has been hospitalized for ongoing abdominal pain. We are grateful to the paramedics for their care. We would like to request your privacy,” it is stated in the statement of Keegan’s family, which was mediated by the AFP agency.

During his playing career, Keegan wore the jerseys of Liverpool, Hamburg and Newcastle. He won the English title three times with “The Reds” and won the European Champions Cup in 1977. During his time in Hamburg, he won the Golden Ball of France Football magazine twice. In the English national team, he played 63 matches and scored 21 goals, he was also the captain of Albion.
