Patrik Hrosovsky says goodbye to Genk teammates, deal is now (almost) complete
The final signatures still have to be signed, but in principle the deal has been completed: Patrik Hrosovsky (33) is leaving KRC Genk with immediate effect for Viktoria Plzen. In Marbella he said goodbye to his teammates.
The affable Slovakian took part in the planned training during the internship in Marbella on Thursday morning. He then said goodbye to his Genk teammates. Trainer Nicky Hayen and Head of Football Dimitri de Condé called the players on the training field and praised Hrosovsky. “Patrik is a real model professional,” he said. “So a tip for the young players, keep Patrik’s telephone number so that you can call him for wise advice, because he has plenty of it.”
More than a million euros
Hrosovsky also took the floor and received loud applause after his speech. He shared lunch with his teammates in Marbella, and then underwent medical tests at Plzen. Only afterwards can the deal be officially announced. He is expected to attend training in Benidorm on Friday, where Viktoria Plzen will be on training until the end of next week. Plzen is reportedly putting a little more than a million euros on the table, which could include bonuses.
Our man in Spain was able to speak to Hrosovsky for a farewell interview. “It was not an easy decision to leave Genk now,” the Slovak said. “Because Genk and Belgium have been an important part of my life and also of my family. They will therefore remain in my heart forever.”
261 matches for Genk
Hrosovsky arrived in Genk in 2019, where he played a total of 261 games, scoring 21 and providing as many assists. There is a good chance that KRC Genk will accommodate Hrosovsky’s departure internally. With Bangoura and Sattlberger, Nicky Hayen still has two central midfielders available, and there are also some young people – August De Wannemacker in the lead – knocking at the door. It has been agreed with coach Hayen that the current core will be evaluated after he has been able to assess all core players during training. (mg)
