Egypt Reaches Semi-Finals – Sözcü

In the 35th Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON 2025), Egypt beat Ivory Coast 3-2 and made its way to the semi-finals.

Egypt and Ivory Coast faced each other in the quarter-final match of the tournament hosted by Morocco by the Confederation of African Football.

Egypt took the lead 1-0 with Omar Marmoush’s goal in the 4th minute of the match, and increased the difference to 2 with Rami Rabia in the 32nd minute.

Although Ivory Coast reduced the difference to 1 with Ahmed Fatouh’s own goal in the 40th minute, Mohammed Salah scored the goal that put Egypt ahead 3-1 in the 52nd minute.

In the match where Ivory Coast reduced the difference to 1 again with Guela Doue’s goal in the 73rd minute, there was no other goal and Egypt won 3-2 and advanced to the semi-finals.

Christ Inao Oulai from Trabzonspor and Yahia Fofana from Çaykur Rizespor started the match in the first 11 of Ivory Coast, while Christopher Operi from Rams Başakşehir was among the reserves.

Egypt will face Senegal in the semi-finals on Wednesday, January 14.

In the other semi-final match, hosts Morocco and Nigeria will meet.
