When asked about the possibility of a trade involving star wide receiver AJ Brown this offseason, Philadelphia Eagles general manager Howie Roseman said players like him are rare.
“It’s hard to find great players in the NFL, and AJ is one of them,” Roseman said Thursday during his end-of-season press conference with coach Nick Sirianni.
“That’s exactly what we’re looking for in the free agent market and in the draft: players who are passionate about football, and he’s a perfect example of that. »
Brown finished the 2025 season with 78 receptions for 1,003 yards and 7 touchdowns, crossing the 1,000-yard mark for the fourth consecutive time since arriving in Philadelphia.
Brown has expressed his frustration several times over the past two seasons, including cryptic posts on social media at the start of the season. He refused to speak to the media after the elimination in the first elimination round.
Brown delivered a disappointing performance in Sunday’s loss to the San Francisco 49ers, finishing with three catches for 25 yards.
Brown was nevertheless selected to the Pro Bowl three times and is the only Eagle to have multiple seasons with more than 1,400 passing yards – the two best performances in franchise history.
Roseman gave a similar response about Brown when rumors of a possible trade near the November trade deadline began to circulate.
“I think when you aspire to be a great team, it’s hard to part with great players, and AJ Brown is one of them,” Roseman added. “He wears the “C” for a reason. He is an essential element of this team, of this organization. He cares about the club, he cares about his teammates, and I think that when you are a team like ours, which aspires to win the championship, you don’t get rid of players like him. »
