Antoine Dupont was not short of arguments when he praised the qualities of Matthieu Jalibert. The latter could be associated with the captain of the XV of France for the start of the Six Nations Tournament due to the absence of Romain Ntamack. Dupont’s club partner, the Toulouse fly-half is expected to miss the matches against Ireland and Wales on February 5 and 15.
Fabien Galthié could rely on his Bordeaux counterpart to form the hinge in the company of the star scrum half. “I played lots of times with Matthieu. I know him very well too. He loves this attacking game in which I find myself a lot. We have quite a few similarities there. It will be easy to find each other,” assured Dupont at a press conference this Monday.
“A great player”
According to him, there is no question of doubting Jalibert’s level, nor his ability to compensate for Ntamack’s package, despite the complementarity which naturally links the two Toulouse residents.
“This year, he’s showing everyone that he’s a great player,” continued Dupont. For my part, it always went very well every time I played with him. Obviously, we didn’t win every match we played together. But I always enjoyed playing with him. As I said, he has a lot of appetite for attacking play like me. He likes to throw the balls again. He likes to take risks. Which is my case too. I think we have the same mentality in rugby. »
