The YONEX Estonian International 2026, a tournament in the BWF International Series, ended with an all-German mixed doubles final. Jonathan Dresp and Selin Hübsch prevailed in the final against Simon Krax and Amelie Lehmann with 21:14 and 24:22 and thus celebrated their first international title together.
The success is a special milestone for the mixed team, which was newly formed last year. Selin Hübsch classified the tournament victory accordingly:
“This is our first international victory as a pairing. It went better and better from game to game. In the final we held our nerve until the end and made up the deficit. We have worked very hard in the last few weeks and months and it is an indescribably nice feeling to see that this work is rewarded. The victory is a reminder of why you invest so much energy in sport – and that it pays off. That means a lot to us and we are proud of our development together.”
National coach Johanna Käpplein was also satisfied with the German performance at the start of the 2026 competition year:
“Of course it’s really gratifying that we had a German mixed final right at the beginning of the year. To see the work we put in in December at this level again so quickly is very nice and gives us self-confidence for the rest of the year. We want to attack in 2026, and this success is a good starting point for that.”
The German mixed pairings will continue next week. The next tournament in the International Series is on the program at the VICTOR Swedish Open 2026 (January 15-18).
