The Miami Dolphins are finalizing a deal to hire Green Bay Packers vice president of player personnel Jon-Eric Sullivan as general manager, sources told ESPN’s Adam Schefter on Friday.
Sullivan joins the Dolphins after working for the Packers since 2003, where he started as an intern scout before being hired full-time in 2004. He rose through the ranks from college scout to director of college scouting, then to co-director of player personnel, before becoming Green Bay’s vice president of player personnel in 2022, working closely with general manager Brian Gutekunst for a team that reached the playoffs six times in the last seven years. recent seasons.
Sullivan’s first major decision in Miami will be to hire a new head coach. Mike McDaniel was fired Thursday after four seasons, including a 7-10 record in 2025. It was the Dolphins’ second straight losing season after reaching the playoffs in 2022 and 2023.
The Dolphins are reportedly interested in former Baltimore Ravens head coach John Harbaugh, although sources told ESPN’s Jeff Darlington that Miami had not yet made contact with Harbaugh or anyone close to him as of Thursday.
One potential candidate with existing ties to Sullivan could be Packers defensive coordinator Jeff Hafley, who has also received interest from the Cardinals, Falcons and Titans.
A looming decision also involves quarterback Tua Tagovailoa, who was benched after Week 15 and said Monday he hopes to get a fresh start with a new team in 2026.
