Diego Laxalt to Peñarol: D10 Deal Confirmed

Born 32 years ago in Montevideo, Laxalt began his career at Defensor Sporting.

In the 2013-2014 season, he was transferred to Inter Milan, who loaned him to Bologna, Empoli and Genoa. The latter club bought his sporting rights and kept him in their squad until the beginning of the 2018-2019 season when they transferred him to Milan.

He played on loan for Italian club Torino and Scottish club Celtic and was finally transferred to Dinamo Moscow.

With the Uruguayan national team, Laxalt played 24 games and participated in three tournaments: the Copa América in 2016, the 2018 World Cup in Russia and the 2019 Copa América in Brazil.

He also played in the 2013 U-20 World Cup in Türkiye.

With Laxalt, Peñarol made its eighth reinforcement for the 2026 season. Previously, it signed goalkeepers Sebastián Britos and Washington Aguerre, defenders Franco Escobar and Lucas Ferreira and forwards Facundo Batista, Gastón Togni and Abel Hernández.

This Saturday, the team led by Diego Aguirre will play its first friendly match of the preseason against River Plate.
