The Cutarc Team It is today one of the names of archery in Galiciabut its origin is far from the main spotlights and current figures.
The club was born in 2013, promoted by a group of archers from different entities who shared the same concern: create in A Coruña a space where archery was accessible to everyone, regardless of age, level or previous experience, and where a good atmosphere was as important as sporting performance.
Since that first impulse, The Cutarc Team has grown steadily, always faithful to that initial idea. The club has established itself as one of the largest in Galicia, with more than 60 active members, several regional and national monitors and a school through which dozens of people pass every year, many of them taking their first steps in this sport.
To that growth A waiting list is added that continues to increase, reflecting the growing interest in archery in the city.
“We were born with the aim of being different and to make it accessible to everyone. We don’t look at age, level or experience,” Javier López, secretary of the club and one of the essential players in its daily operations, proudly explains.
Growth with great results
The evolution of The Cutarc Team It has also translated into results. At a sporting level, the club regularly participates in regional and national competitions, accumulating multiple podiums and several Galician champion titles in different modalities, such as recurve, traditional and compound bows. A success that has not altered the essence of the project, which continues to focus on camaraderie and the shared enjoyment of sports practice.
“We are like a family, that spirit must remain“, Javier summarizes in conversation with Fifteen thousand.

Activity of The Cutarc Team in the Frontón de la Torre.
That own spirit is, in fact, one of the most recognizable signs of identity of the club. The Cutarc Team’s mascot is a fictitious goat, a symbol of its carefree character; They were pioneers in distributing jelly beans in large quantities in competitions and maintain the tradition of closing each throw with their now famous cry of “Cutarc!”, which on many occasions ends up being chanted by goalkeepers from other clubs. A custom that explains more than one official photo with smiles and open mouths.
The difficulties along the way
The road has not been without difficulties. The lack of specific facilities in A Coruña has forced the club to adapt and look for imaginative solutions. Currently, The Cutarc Team He trains at the Short Fronton of the Ciudad Deportiva de la Torre during the indoor season and at the Zapateira soccer field during the outdoor season.. In total, about 10 hours of training per week, spread over Wednesdays, Saturdays and Sundays.
The club maintains conversations with the City Council to study new options that allow extending hours and spaces, a key step to continue growing both in number of members and in competitive level.

Preparation of material to throw.
The training aspect continues to be one of the pillars of the project. Anyone interested in starting archery can do so through the club’s school.which costs 10 euros per month, with all the material included, and takes place on Saturdays from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Ciudad Deportiva de la Torre, renamed in the pandemic as Arsenio Iglesias. A cost significantly lower than that of many sports modalities in the city.
A proposal designed not only to compete, but also to socialize, reduce daily stress and improve abilities such as concentration and self-control.
A benchmark tournament of its kind is underway
As a finishing touch to this trajectory, The Cutarc Team will celebrate its VII Qualifying Tournament and VII Fernando Bardanca Trophy. A competition that has become one of the most important on the regional calendar, with a record participation in the last edition, nearly 130 archers registered and the presence of athletes even from outside Galicia.
The tournament will also conclude with the delivery of the Fernando Bardanca Trophy, an emotional tribute to one of the founding members of the clubwhose effort and attitude helped build the foundations of what The Cutarc Team is today.
