René van der Gijp is firmly convinced that Ronald Koeman junior was brought to Ajax or Barcelona by Johan Cruijff. The analyst is very pleased with the Telstar goalkeeper.
“If Cruijff had still been a trainer, Koeman would have put junior under the bar at Ajax or Barcelona. One hundred percent,” Van der Gijp is certain in the podcast KieftJansenEgmondGijp.“Koeman junior is a nice boy,” adds Wim Kieft. “It would be a stunt if his father says that he has thought about it again and still takes his son to the World Cup.” Van der Gijp then mentions the 2022 World Cup with the choice of goalkeepers. “It’s nice that Louis van Gaal convinced us for a month that Andries Noppert was an incredibly good goalkeeper. So firmly that we started to wonder whether we were overlooking something.”
The Telstar goalkeeper himself remains cool about the link with the Dutch team. “I never expected that this would be talked about at all,” he said on Sunday ESPN. “I saw Robin Roefs keep goal again yesterday (Saturday, ed.): He is also a nice goalkeeper.
