Coupe de France Round of 16 Draw: Key Results & Fixtures

The 16 teams still in the running are set. The draw for the round of 16 of the Coupe de France was made this Tuesday, January 13 on the BeIN Sports set, a few moments before the final poster of the 16th between Bayeux (R1) and Olympique de Marseille.

The day after its historic feat against Paris Saint-Germain (0-1), Paris FC now knows the name of its future opponent: FC Lorient. Stéphane Gilli’s men will travel to Moustoir to try to continue their fine run in the oldest French competition.

Rivals for promotion to Ligue 1 last season, the two teams know each other well. The PFC won the last confrontation, winning 2 goals to 0 on October 3 in the championship.

The draw for the round of 16:

Toulouse FC (L1) – Amiens SC (L2)

RC Strasbourg (L1) – AS Monaco (L1)

Stade de Reims (L2) – Le Mans FC (L2)

OGC Nice (L1) – Montpellier HSC (L2)

Olympique Lyonnais (L1) – Stade Lavallois (L2)

Bayeux FC (R1) or Olympique de Marseille (L1) – Stade Rennais (L1)

FC Lorient (L1) – Paris FC (L1)

STAT Troys (L2) – RC Lens (L1)

While this round could be played without any amateur club – pending the result of the Bayeux match – a first at this stage of the competition since the 1989-1990 season, two other potential clashes between Ligue 1 teams were drawn by Rémi Gomis and Damien Perquis.

Towards an OM-Rennes as a flagship?

On the program: a poster between contenders for European places opposing Strasbourg to Monaco, which will take place at the Stade de la Meinau, but also a tempting confrontation between OM and Rennes at the Vélodrome, if the Phocéens hold their position well this Monday evening.

Olympique Lyonnais, which will host Laval at Groupama Stadium, was rather spared by fate, as was RC Lens. The current leader of the French Championship will start favorite on the lawn of Troyes but will still have to approach its round of 16 against ESTAC, who are at the top of Ligue 2, with seriousness.

As a reminder, all the round of 16 matches will take place on Tuesday February 3 or Wednesday February 4.
