Corruption Investigation Launched: Task Force Details

When contacted for a report, Dedé stated that he never negotiated anything for his own benefit at the club, and that all values and acts negotiated during his period as social director were on behalf of the club. He served as director throughout the Casares administration, and left the position on January 21st.

In the audio that gave rise to the complaint, to which the report had access, Dedé appears negotiating with a person about concessions at the club. He tells this person that they are charged a “jewel” – a term normally used to refer to an entry fee – of R$100,000 to R$150,000. In the audio, he also says “we charge 20% of gross revenue” and “the (card) machines are ours”.

To the report, Dedé confirmed the audio, and said that the values and conditions were all charged by São Paulo, officially, to allow suppliers to enter the social club. He says that an entry fee of R$150,000 was charged, which was sometimes negotiated to R$100,000, and that the club initially asked for 20% of gross revenue, but in some cases this amount was also negotiated and reached up to 10%.

According to him, all these charges went directly to São Paulo’s cashier. He also states that “our machines” refers to the payment machines used and contracted by the club, and states that maintaining the same system was important to enable flow control and accounting.
