This apartment with a gross floor area of 71 m2 is located in a panel building with a beautiful view of the sky above Prague. Although the view is disturbed by the traffic artery, it also represents a unique aesthetic element that, thanks to its never-ending “movement”, tempts you to watch it for a long time.
Architects Ivana Hájková and Kateřina Šmardovová from the studio Iva Hajkova Studio drew inspiration both from the horizon (after all, that’s why the project is called Above the Horizon) and from the energy of movement. Their next creative impulse was yachting, which the owner of the apartment is devoted to. And so a home full of views of the horizon, with an atmosphere of blue sea, sandy coast, fresh wind and sailing ships was created.
The architects tried to create an elegant space with interesting contrasting details that have an energetic, but at the same time calming effect. They did not hide the concrete that belongs to the panel house. On the contrary, they cleaned it of paint and plaster deposits and put it on display for everyone to see.
The wooden plank floor has become the deck on which life takes place. Blue in different shades that follow each other in an interesting way is used in the kitchen, library or lamps and creates the impression of the sea. The clay trowel in the bedroom, on the other hand, represents the seabed or beach to which we swim. All this is wrapped in a veil of practical minimalism.
The architects changed the layout of the original 3+kk to a generous 2+kk with a separate dressing room. In the bathroom, they created a large shower and added storage elements to the wall around the wall-hung toilet. The cloakroom provides separate storage space including a bicycle niche with charging capability, as well as a place to charge an electric vacuum cleaner.
The apartment is equipped with a modern smart home system and a security system that increase comfort and safety. Internal and external blinds take care of privacy, and thanks to the replacement of the original plastic windows with high-quality wood-aluminum ones with triple glazing, the apartment hears significantly less noise from the busy city than usual.
The result is a quiet, peaceful and inspiring space that provides its user with everything they may need for a pleasant life in the metropolis.
