Cihan Canak returned well with Trabzonspor. But he was still loaned out to find his rhythm in the second half of the season.
A year and a half ago, Cihan Canak was one of the local young people sold by Standard to pay off its debts. The Verviétois had brought in two million thanks to his transfer to Trabzonspor. He was joined there by Denis Dragus.
The two former Rouches did not really succeed in establishing themselves. For his first season, Canak started nine league matches and was only decisive once. This season, injuries have further reduced his playing time: only 39 minutes of play in the Süper Lig.
The man who played 70 games for Standard demonstrated all his flexibility by playing as a left-back, even scoring a goal and assisting Kazeem Olaigbe in the Cup. But to allow him to get back into rhythm, it was still agreed to loan him out.
Facing a former Anderlecht player on the flank
Where Dragus was loaned to Gaziantep, Canak will finish the season at Genclerbirligi. The Ankara-based club is currently twelfth in the standings. The two men will meet again very quickly since Genclerbirligi will host Gaziantep on Sunday.
In his new team, Cihan Canak will notably face competition from Henry Onyekuru (ex-Eupen and Anderlecht), who returned from Saudi Arabia six months ago.
