Chelsea Transfer News: Star Departure Looming?

The Cottagers have already explored the possibility of signing the England international, who is yet to play this season, with Blues coach Enzo Maresca deeming him undesirable.

Fulham are considering reviving the Sterling track after their bid for Pepe failed.

According to a report from TEAMtalk, Fulham are preparing a bid for Sterling, who, along with defender Axel Disasi and striker David Datro Fofana, is among the unwanted players currently training away from Chelsea’s first team.

The report states that Chelsea would be willing to take on a large portion of Sterling’s weekly wages, estimated at £325,000, in order to facilitate his departure this winter.

The report, however, concludes that Fulham are favoring a second bid for PSV Eindhoven striker Ricardo Pepi, after The Athletic revealed that the club’s first offer, worth £26 million (€29.7 million/$34.9 million), was rejected earlier this week.

US national team striker Pepi, 22, has been in great form this season with Eredivisie leaders PSV, with 10 goals in 21 appearances in all competitions. He also scored 17 goals in 28 games in the 2024-25 season.

After being told this summer by manager Maresca that he no longer had a future at Chelsea, the BBC reported that Fulham had expressed interest in Sterling, whose contract expires in June 2027.

The report claimed that former Liverpool striker Sterling would prefer to stay in London with his family, with his son Thiago having joined Arsenal’s academy in the summer.

Bayer Leverkusen (Bundesliga), Juventus and Napoli (Serie A) were also interested in the 31-year-old, with all three clubs participating in the Champions League this season.

Sterling, who has 82 England caps and 20 goals, joined Chelsea from Manchester City in July 2022 for a fee of £50 million (€57.3 million/$67.2 million). He played 81 games with the Blues and scored 19 goals.
